I struggled whether to include this question, but it is often the most asked, and if not spoken out loud, at least the most often wondered about, am I right?
Let me preface this answer with the fact that no one gets into this line of work for the money. It is tedious yet so rewarding. I come home mentally exhausted and I haven't even edited the photos which takes the most time. Every click of the shutter is a minute spent later to look at, select/discard then edit. It typically takes two to three hours to edit 50+ photos from a 30 min session.
Many decent photographers don't charge their worth. I try to be in the middle. I want people to have great photos of themselves and their family at a fair price. In addition to my time, there are costs/time spent answering emails, weather watching, for camera gear and computers, photo editing software, session set up, travel and hours spent editing.
You are not only paying a photographer for all that’s listed above, but for the experience and expertise that goes into making photos great. It starts with the pose and finishes on my computer. It is so important to hire a good photographer who knows how to "shoot to edit." Whether you choose me or someone else, you are hiring an artist. Here is an example below, straight off the camera and after editing. It's like magic, every time!

Sessions can take place in studio, outdoors (park, beach, place of interest), at your office or your home. Have another idea? Please let us know so we can inquire.
-
Hair and makeup services are available. We can provide a preferred stylist/artist list and they will discuss prices with you privately. We take no commission from this service.

Yes. If you would like family portraits that don’t include your pets just remember to plan for a secure place for them to rest while we photograph the family.

Kids ages 1-3 are the hardest to get to smile naturally, so we strive for happy candid shots with cuddles and tickles thrown in.
Top two things that help: incentive and practice! You are welcome to hand me the incentive when we arrive (like in a goodie bag). I will tell the kids that I have a surprise thus providing the incentive to have fun for the photos. Sometimes the incentive works better coming from me!
Practice works wonders! In the days and weeks before your session, practice in the mirror at home. Laugh, be silly, make a funny face and smile big. This works for Mom and Dad too.
I'm also a big believer in just letting kids play and see what happens. For shy ones, I like showing them what their photos look like on my screen.
What if they cry? In 10 years, I’m willing to bet that you’ll cherish the image of your toddler crying big tears just as much as the one that we took 10 seconds later of them happily running toward the camera. My goal is to capture the personalities of the kids in front of my lens, including all the beautiful quirks, details and small moments that make up childhood.

Great question! I have thought about utilizing proofing galleries (sending clients images right off the camera, and they pick the ones they want me to edit), but the number of photos taken in a session can be overwhelming and hard to tell what the final product would be.. Also the some of the perceived (by the untrained eye) worse raw photos (straight out of the camera) turn out to be the best when I am done editing. So instead, I select/discard the images and edit the best ones (for light and color and overall magic/drama/wow factor that I am known for) for you to choose. This way also saves both of us time in the long run.
I edit all the photos that turn out, meaning they are in focus, everyone is looking (in posed shots) and everyone has a decent expression on their face. When you receive your gallery, there are usually up to 50 photos in a 30-minute gallery and up to 100 in a 60-minute gallery. You will then be able to "heart" your favorites.

Editing images to make them the best they can be is my FAVORITE part of the job!
It typically takes me 4-5 hours to edit each hour of shooting. I usually finish all galleries and have them back to you within 14 days of your session.

This depends on the products purchased as part of your package. The average client will spend around $1500. All of our wall art and albums are finely produced in Italy with the highest quality standards.

Photographers don't provide RAW images because they are not the final product you are paying for but rather the digital equivalent of film negatives, unaltered and incomplete. RAW files are very large and often require specialized software to view which most clients do not have on their computers. Additionally, the editing process is a crucial, artistic part of the photographer's service and it's a critical skill that is mastered over years of practice.Item description
